Harold Melinek
Harold G. Melinek, 96, of Jackson died Aug. 13, 2018. Born in Newark, he resided in Irvington and Basking Ridge before moving to Jackson in 2012.
Mr. Melinek was a salesman for Saks Fifth Ave. in Millburn for many years. After his retirement, he worked for the YMCA in Berkeley Heights.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant, serving in France, Germany, and Austria.
He was the national president of the 42nd Rainbow Division (a division of the U.S. Army) and a commander of its New Jersey chapter. He was also the chapter’s reunion chairman.
Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Edna, he is survived by two daughters, Marsha Niederman of Jackson and Arlene Krislow of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his son, Michael of Plantation, Fla.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 16 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
