Harold Lewis Arm
Harold Lewis Arm, 90, of West Long Branch died March 6, 2011. He was born in New York City and spent his childhood in Asbury Park.
Mr. Arm worked at a Long Branch accounting firm for many years, becoming a partner in Arm, Jones and Panis. He retired at age 75.
He graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1937, and attended Monmouth Junior College and City College of New York, class of 1942.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for three years during World War II.
An accomplished pianist, he played in the Pete Galatro Orchestra and for various organizations and theater groups. He was an active member of the JCC of Greater Monmouth County in Deal and was instrumental in the production, musical direction, and set design and construction for the JCC’s Center Drama theater group. He also sang with the Chorus of the Atlantic barbershop group.
He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans’ Post 125, the Long Branch Old Guard, the West Long Branch Leisure Club, and Congregation Torat El.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ellie; three daughters, Lisa Arm of Needham, Mass., Alison Frost of Truxton, NY, and Pamela Arm of Brooklyn; his brother, Norman of Hudson, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Services were held March 8 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
