Harold Cohen
Harold “Hesh” Cohen of Springfield died Oct. 28, 2015. He was born in Newark and also maintained a residence in Aventura, Fla.
Mr. Cohen actively worked in his own CPA practice for the past 62 years in Springfield.
He graduated in 1942 from Weequahic High School, Newark, where he was voted all-city, -county, and -state in both basketball and baseball.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael, Springfield, and Shackamaxon Country Club, Scotch Plains, where he was past president. He was inducted into the Newark Sports Hall of Fame in 1991 and JCC MetroWest Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
Predeceased by a son, Bruce, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rita (Blumenfeld); a son, David; his daughter, Lori (Barry) Ress; and grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 1 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation.
