Hardly ‘illegal’
In his Dec. 10 letter, Martin Levine of J Street advocates that we should give in to the Palestinian claim of ”illegal settlements in occupied territory.” He states this as if it were a fact when it is not.
The “West Bank” merely delineates the cease-fire line where the fighting stopped after the Six-Day War, and has no legal basis as final territorial boundaries. Ultimate boundaries have to be established through negotiations. Levine is already conceding what the Palestinians demand, even before negotiation begins.
