According to the Associated Press, “Protests of a grand jury’s decision not to indict a white police officer in the chokehold death of an unarmed black man continued around the country, and authorities
said a march in California turned violent when masked demonstrators smashed windows and threw objects at police.”
As a police and prison chaplain I can tell you this will only stress the police more and mistakes will be made. Police officers are only human and if they fear being murdered they will do whatever it takes
to stay alive. There are good and bad police officers, just like people in general. If a suspect resists, they are looking for trouble.
Can you imagine a society where the police look away from crimes so they will be able to go home safely at night? Do you want criminals on the street who out-gun the police and have more powerful weapons than law enforcement? There will be no law, only disorder.
Police feel betrayed. Those officers who were not found guilty by the grand jury still face other charges and may be convicted. Pray for the welfare of the government, for without fear of governmental authorities people would swallow each other alive.
