Gloria Bierstein
Gloria Bierstein (Greisman) of Verona died Feb. 6, 2019. Born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, she also had lived in Newark, Hillside, and Millburn.
An educator named “An American Portrait” by CBS during the American Bicentennial in 1976, Mrs. Bierstein was honored for an original curriculum about immigration. She taught at South Mountain School in South Orange for 23 years.
She attended college at night for 15 years at Kean College when her three children were grown. She earned a B.S. degree magna cum laude and two master’s degrees in education.
Predeceased by her husband, Ted, she is survived by her son, Ken (Jill) of Florida; two daughters, Lauren Androvich of Brick and Donna (Steve) Burkat of West Orange; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 10 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
