Gladys Blum
Gladys Blum (Gordon), 89, of Fanwood died May 3, 2016. She lived in Newark, in Clark for 41 years, and more recently in Scotch Plains/Fanwood. She spent summers in Bradley Beach for most of her life.
Mrs. Blum was corporate secretary of Berkeley Federal Savings in Millburn for 21 years, and was previously employed at the Newark Board of Education.
She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, in 1944.
A life member of Hadassah, she was president of Newark Jr. Hadassah and later served as president of the organization’s Maple group of Newark and Clark chapters. She was also a former member of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah and its sisterhood and senior group. She served as a volunteer for the Emanuel Cancer Foundation.
Predeceased by her husband, Louis, in 1990, she is survived by two daughters, Janet (Elliot) Ballen of Cranford and Bette Blum of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; a brother, Alan Gordon of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Meryl Shlossman of Roswell, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held May 5 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
