Gertrude “Trudy” Flax, 93, of Summit, formerly of Walden, NY, died April 4, 2016. She was born in Port Jervis, NY.
Mrs. Flax was a teacher for 19 years.
She received a bachelor of science from New York State Teachers College in Albany, NY, in 1943 and her master’s degree in 1947.
She and her husband were active members of Congregation Beth Hillel and Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County, where they created a Living Legacy in their name.
Predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Leo, she is survived by two daughters, Donna Flax (partner Catherine Russo) and Debbie (Steven) Kaflowitz; and a granddaughter.
Services were held April 7 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Maplewood.
