Gertrude Estrin

Gertrude Estrin (Gold), 93, of Coconut Creek, Fla., died April 6, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, she grew up in Brooklyn and, after graduating from high school, she moved to New Jersey, living in Dunellen and Plainfield before moving to Florida in 1982.

Mrs. Estrin worked as a bookkeeper at the Ideal Shop, a children’s clothing store in Plainfield. Later she and her husband were proprietors of Orbit Cleaners in Piscataway.

She was active in the JCC and B’nai B’rith and was a member of Temple Beth El in Plainfield.

Following her retirement, she enjoyed singing and dancing in the bi-yearly productions of the Wynmoor Dance Troupe, and remained involved in B’nai B’rith.

Predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Robert, last August, she is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Jeffrey) Rubin of Holmdel and Coconut Creek, and Sandra (Edward) Kanitra of Lawrenceville; two sons, Joel (Sharon) of Buckeye, Ariz., and Allan (Stephanie) of Mt. Laurel; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 9 with arrangements handled by Star of David, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
