Gerard M. Weiss, 88, of Westfield died June 27, 2014. Born in New York City, he lived in New Jersey for more than 63 years, almost 60 of them in Westfield.
Mr. Weiss worked in sales, selling building materials to lumber yards in New Jersey. He graduated from New York University.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and received the Purple Heart and several other citations.
He was active in Community Theater for 35 years in the Westfield area and sang in several choirs earlier on.
He is survived by his wife, Kate Tucker Weiss; his son, Michael (Pagan) of Voorhees; his daughter, Susan of West Hartford, Conn.; a brother, Julian of Long Island, NY; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 29 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
