Gerard Kirzner

Gerard Kirzner, 86, of Highland Park died Oct. 21, 2013. Born in Cuba, he had been a resident of Highland Park for over 50 years.

Mr. Kirzner had been employed for many years by Bond Clothing Co., New Brunswick, and had also owned and operated Jerry’s Plastics at the Englishtown Market. For the past several years, he worked as a Spanish-language court interpreter for many local municipalities.

He was a former president of the East Brunswick Chess Club and a longtime member of Congregation Ohav Emeth, Highland Park.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Halfon Kirzner; his daughter, Sara (Andrew) Eisner of North Brunswick; his son, Samuel (Debbie) of Arlington, Va.; a brother, Boris of New Brunswick, and three grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 23 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park First Aid Squad, 128 S. Eleventh Avenue, Highland Park, NJ 08904 or American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
