Gerald Coopersmith
Gerald Coopersmith, 92, of Lebanon died Jan. 7, 2019. He was born in Newark and later lived in Hillside and West Orange before moving last year to Lebanon.
Mr. Coopersmith retired from the accounting field in 1995, working for Howard Clothes and as the comptroller for R&S, Fifth Avenue Card Shops, and Eastern Shopping Centers.
He attended Weequahic High School in Newark and was a graduate of Rutgers University.
He was a Radar-man 3rd Class, serving in the Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
He volunteered at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for many years and continued to help many family members with their accounting needs until he was 90.
Predeceased by his wife, Leona (Haupt), he is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Michael) Wagner of Flemington and Sheryl (Michael) Reilly of Las Vegas; a sister, Phyllis Nelson of West Orange; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 10 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels, Cedar Grove.
