George Hodes

George Hodes, 104, of River Vale died Nov. 24, 2012. Born in Newark, he lived most of his life in Springfield and Union.

Mr. Hodes was a Certified Public Accountant who had his own practice in Essex and Union counties for over 60 years.

He was a graduate of New York University School of Commerce, and was honored as NYU’s oldest living alumnus.

He and his wife were charter members of the Unity Temple in Union, which later became Congregation Beth Shalom. He was also active with the Union chapter of B’nai B’rith.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly (Tremper); two sons, Larry (Leslie) and David (Jolie); his daughter, Robin (Roger) Jacobs; two sisters, Edith Rose and Viola Meskin; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 26 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
