No, the Zionist Organization of America and J Street are not two pro-Israel sides of the same coin. (Editor’s Column, “Seems like old times,” Feb. 25). They aren’t even from the same planet. ZOA is clearly and unambiguously pro-Israel; J Street is pro-peace, whether Israel survives the peace for not. ZOA sees the Palestinians, and especially Hamas, as enemies; J Street sees them as wronged parties.
ZOA wants the U.S. to assure a strong Israel; J Street doesn’t want to open The New York Times and read another condemnation of an Israeli military action. ZOA is Jewish; J Street is liberal — and no, you can’t be both.
There is no nice way to put it: J Street and similar-minded Jews are the Vichy French of our time. They want to wave their flags and feast on their wine and cheese in peace, and if that means throwing Israel under the bus, so be it. These people are worse than the Palestinians, who are at least honest enough to say that they hate us.
