Frieda Wentz

Frieda B. Wentz (Bornstein) of Pompton Plains died April 30, 2016. Born in Paterson, she lived in Livingston for many years before moving to Pompton Plains five years ago. 

Mrs. Wentz was a third- and fourth-grade teacher at the Deerfield School in Short Hills for 23 years, retiring in 1990. 

She graduated magna cum laude from Newark State Teachers College, where she also earned a master’s degree in special education. 

A member of the Millburn Retired Teachers Association, she was former secretary and a member of the Jewish organization of Cedar Crest. 

Predeceased by her husband, Leon, she is survived by her son, Larry (Karen Larson) of Stamford, Conn.; her daughter, Cindy Wentz (Robert Branscombe) of Watertown, Mass.; a brother, Leonard Bornstein of South Orange; and two grandchildren.

Services were held May 2 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of New Jersey.
