Fred Tarnofsky, 79, of Edison died Feb. 17, 2017. Born in Newark, he lived most of his life in Edison.
Mr. Tarnofsky managed the Universal Men’s and Boy’s clothing store in Newark for over 30 years, and then went on to Home Depot, where he worked for over 20 years.
He graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, where he excelled in basketball, in 1955.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Military Police, stationed in Korea.
He enjoyed building furniture.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Freeman of Scotch Plains and Alison Tarnofsky of Manhattan, and four grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 19 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to CurePSP.
