Francine Fish Schwartz
Francine Fish Schwartz (Dondershine) of Springfield, formerly of Short Hills, died Nov. 23, 2015. She was born in Irvington.
Mrs. Schwartz had worked as a preschool teacher. She also worked at Archie Schwartz Co. She was a graduate of Hood College.
Involved in many philanthropic endeavors, she served as sisterhood president of Congregation B’nai Israel, Millburn, and as the synagogue’s unofficial welcoming committee. She was a recipient of the Ben Gurion Award for Israel Bonds and ran art tours for the synagogue. She also sang for senior citizens at local nursing homes with Shiru Nah. She served as PTA president at the Sandmeier School in Springfield.
Predeceased by her son, Robert Fish, a grandson, Jordan Fish, and her husband of 22 years, Elmer Schwartz, she is survived by three daughters, Pamela Fish (Joel) Zingeser, Randi Fish (Fred) Ostry, and Yeda Fish; a brother, David Dondershine; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Robert B. Fish Foundation, Scholarship Fund, Syracuse University; or Jordan Lee Fish Foundation, 25 Eton Place, Springfield, NJ 07081.
