Francine Bakalchuk

Francine Bakalchuk, 82, of Lake Hiawatha died March 1, 2012. Born in Newark, she lived in Maplewood for over 40 years before moving to Lake Hiawatha eight years ago.

Mrs. Bakalchuk was an administrative assistant for Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark for 20 years.

She was a member of the Lake Hiawatha Senior Center and the sisterhood of Temple Beth Am in Parsippany. She was active with the Charity Council of Belleville, which raised money for cerebral palsy.

Predeceased by her husband, Jacob, in 1959, she is survived by her son, Ira of Parlin; two daughters, Barb Bumpus of Phoenix, Ariz., and Helene Bakalchuk of Irvington; a sister, Ann Bronitsky of Norwalk, Conn.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 4 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
