Frances Farber
Frances N. Farber (Novit), 90, of West Orange died Jan. 3, 2014. Born in Roselle, she grew up in Carteret and lived in Elizabeth before moving to Linden, where she lived for 50 years before residing in Cranford for 10 years.
Mrs. Farber retired as a bookkeeper for the Linden Board of Education in 1983.
She served for many years as a volunteer at the former Rahway Hospital and was designated an informal “ambassador” at The Atria-Cranford, where she resided.
She was an active member of Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim and its sisterhood in Cranford.
Predeceased by her husband, Melvin, in 1998; a grandson, Matthew Ryan Farber, in 2011; and a brother, Samuel Novit, in 1954, she is survived by her daughter, Harriet Farber (Paul) Klein of Maplewood; her son, Steven of Spring, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 6 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
