Frances Choper
Dr. Frances Steeble Choper, 86, of Highland Park died Oct. 16, 2018. She resided in Highland Park since 1961.
Dr. Choper practiced internal medicine for over 30 years in a home office she shared with her late husband, dentist Wayne S. Choper. During her active medical practice, she had privileges at St. Peter’s University Hospital and RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick, where she also taught.
She graduated from Douglass College and obtained her medical degree from New York Medical College in 1959. She completed an internship at University of Vermont-Fletcher Allen Health Care in 1960; her residency in internal medicine at Metropolitan Hospital in 1961; and her residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at Albert Einstein-Montefiore Medical Center in 1962. Upon retirement from private practice, she maintained an active medical license and continued to attend weekly medical conferences at the local New Brunswick hospitals.
Since her retirement, she produced a large amount of mixed media paintings and enjoyed her horses, dogs, and nature.
Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Wayne S., she is survived by her son, Ethan J. of Highland Park; her daughter, Jessica E. (Andrew N. Friedheim) of Pennington; a sister, Cecilia King of Margate; and two granddaughters.
Services were held Oct. 19 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.
