Florence Rader

Florence C. Rader, 93, of Maplewood died March 27, 2012. Born in Waterbury, Conn., she lived in Newark, Elizabeth, and Verona prior to moving to Maplewood in 2004.

Dr. Rader retired as the school psychologist after many years with the Verona Board of Education, where her career began as an English teacher and a guidance counselor.

She received her bachelor’s degree from the New Jersey College for Women (Douglass College) in 1940, her master’s from Columbia University, and her doctorate in educational psychology from Rutgers University.

She served with the Red Cross during World War II.

She is survived by her husband, Harold A.; two daughters, Wendy Rader Dunn and Robin Rader; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 29 with arrangements by Prout Funeral Home, Verona. Memorial contributions may be made to the Verona Public Library.
