Ferdinand G. Weisbrod
Ferdinand G. Weisbrod, 93, of Springfield died Sept. 20, 2011. He was born in Newark.
Dr. Weisbrod was a gastroenterologist who practiced medicine for over 30 years, associated with East Orange General Hospital. At midlife, he transitioned to a career owning and managing residential real estate.
He was in the first graduating class of Weequahic High School, Newark. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and its medical school.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England during World War II.
He is survived by his son, Neil; his daughter, Andrea Wilder; a sister, Juanita Spitalny; and by the children of his second wife, Dorothy: his stepdaughter, Valerie Otto, and her daughter; and his stepson, Wayne Otto, and his four sons.
Services were held Sept. 23 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
