A Community Gathering in Support of Israel will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, at Temple B’nai Abraham, Livingston.
Speakers will include the temple’s Rabbi Cliff Kulwin, who recently took part in a solidarity mission to Israel sponsored by Jewish Federations of North America, and Gil Lainer, consul for public diplomacy at the Consulate General of Israel in New York. Skype communications with representatives of Ofakim/Merchavin, one of the partner communities of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, will also be featured.
Prior to his arrival in New York, Lainer was a counselor in the Bureau for Middle East Economy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, where he worked to establish Israel’s policy on humanitarian aid and projects in the Gaza Strip. Lainer also served as MFA liaison to the IDF in coordinating and implementing this policy.
The gathering is sponsored by the GMW federation in partnership with the American Jewish Committee NJ Region; the Anti-Defamation League NJ Region; Northern NJ Region of Hadassah; JNF; Rabbinic Cabinet of Greater MetroWest; the Va’ad of Central NJ; the National Council of Jewish Women Essex County, Union County, and Morris County sections; and NCJW State Political Advocacy.
