Fay Kessler Hortz (Zipkin) of West Orange died Nov. 16, 2017. She was born in Dayton, the youngest of nine children.
Mrs. Hortz’s first job was as a physical education teacher. Later, she became the recreation director at Daughters of Israel in West Orange, where she worked for 28 years and then continued to volunteer for 30 years.
She graduated summa cum laude from Panzer College in 1946.
She was an active life member of Hadassah for 77 years.
Predeceased by her husband Ben, she is survived by three daughters, Beth Rizzolo of South Orange, Harriet Silverman of Marlton, and Paula Kondioti of North Brunswick, NJ; and three grandsons.
Services were held Nov. 19 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
