Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht on Friday evening, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. This night of remembrance will feature a presentation by Miriam Gershwin, who will share her personal experiences as a Holocaust survivor and answer questions from attendees. The program, which will take place during Congregation Beth Israel’s Friday night Shabbat services, is open to the community and is suitable for children. Holocaust remembrance
Dr. Elizabeth Scheiber, codirector of the Julius and Dorothy Koppelman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center at Rider University, will present “100 Years of Primo Levi” at the the annual Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) Interfaith Service, on Sunday, April 28, at 1:30 p.m. at Adath Israel Congregation in Lawrenceville. Eva Wiener, one of the few surviving passengers of the MS St. Louis, the German ship that was denied entrance to the United States and Cuba in 1939 and whose Jewish passengers were forced to return to Europe, will speak at 10:30 a.m. at Congregation B’nai Israel, Rumson.
