“What You Need to Know About Elder Abuse”
Senior Resource Center at The Lavy House, Westfield, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The center is a joint venture between Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFSCNJ) and Temple Emanu-El of Westfield. The Holocaust Council of Greater MetroWest will host a discussion of the exhibit “13 Driver’s Licenses: 13 Jewish Lives” on Thursday, July 18, at 11:30 a.m. at the Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus, Whippany. JCC of Central NJ, Scotch Plains, 7-9 p.m. The Givat Haviva project provides 20 Arab and Jewish teenagers each year the opportunity to understand the lives of their peers through photography; participants will discuss their work. Livingston Township Hall, 7 p.m. Members of Montclair’s Bnai Keshet and local faith and immigrant advocacy organizations will gather to demand better conditions at the Essex County Correctional Facility (ECCF); most of the detainees are immigrants and refugees who have not been charged with crimes. Participants will visit Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo and attend a County Freeholder’s meeting.
