DESCRIPTION:Francine Klagsbrun is the author of more than a dozen books\, including The Fourth Commandment: Remember the Sabbath Day and Married People: Staying Together in the Age of Divorce. Her latest book Lioness received the 2017 National Jewish Book Award/Everett Family Foundation Book of the Year. Klagsbrun was also the editor of the best-selling Free to Be . . . You and Me and is a regular columnist for The Jewish Week\, a contributing editor to Lilith\, and on the editorial board of Hadassah magazine. Her writing has also appeared in The New York Times\, The Boston Globe\, Newsweek\, and Ms. Magazine. In 1988\, at the First International Jewish Feminist Conference in Jerusalem\, a group of women organized a prayer service at the Western Wall and selected Ms. Klagsbrun to carry the Torah at the head of the group\, making her the first woman to carry a Torah to the Western Wall. \nRabbi Linda Henry Goodman has served as Rabbi of Union Temple of Brooklyn since 1992\, and this past summer transitioned to the role of Rabbi Emerita. She has long been a champion of women’s rights\, outspokenly fighting to protect reproductive choice and health care access for women in New York State and throughout the country. In 2012\, she was installed as the first woman to serve as President of The New York Board of Rabbis. She received rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion\, from which she also holds a Master of Arts in Hebrew Literature\, a Doctor of Ministry\, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. Rabbi Goodman has been a member of Women of the Wall virtually from the beginning and has written numerous articles and delivered many sermons on the topic. \nCome meet these Prominent Jewish feminists and Women of the Wall members at the Garden State Region of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism Fall Torah Fund Brunch on Sunday\, November 4\, 2018 at 9:30 AM at Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim\, 338 Walnut Street in Cranford.
