SUMMARY:Temple Sholom's Annual Chanukah Lego Night
DESCRIPTION:Temple Sholom of Scotch Plains today announced that it will host its annual Chanukah Lego Night on Thursday\, December 6 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Temple Sholom. Back by popular demand\, the event is free and open to the public. \nParticipants are welcome to build as many Lego creations as their hearts desire\, while reveling in dreidel games\, enjoying Chanukah music\, and indulging in donuts\, latkes (potato pancakes) and plenty of chocolate gelt. There also will be raffles for a Lego-style menorah and a Lego-style dreidel. \nIn Hebrew\, the word “Chanukah” means “dedication.” The name reminds us that this holiday commemorates the re-dedication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem following the Jewish victory over the Syrian-Greeks who tried to destroy the Jewish population in 165 B.C.E. Also known as the Festival of Lights\, the eight-day festival celebrates the triumph of light over darkness. \nWHO: The event is free and open to all. Space is limited. Abraham and Cantor Darcie Sharlein. The Temple and its religious school are home to about 250 families from the greater Scotch Plains-Fanwood area. The congregation is located at 1925 Lake Avenue in Scotch Plains. Temple Sholom is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism. It has recently become the first synagogue in Union County\, NJ\, to offer a voluntary membership contribution model.
