Tefilah Lab, Session 2: Chanting Circle
March 17, 2019 , 10:00 am - 11:30 am
FreeYou may associate chanting in religious ceremonies with Native American traditions or perhaps Hindu or Buddhist practices, but this technique is also widely practiced in many Jewish communities. Chanting is simply the repetition of a sacred phrase in a melodic and rhythmic way. Chanting quiets the mind and uplifts the soul. It facilitates the internalization of the teachings of the Tanakh.
Chanting does not require knowledge of Hebrew or confidence in one’s singing voice. Only a desire to engage with an open heart. This session will be led by two experienced chanters, David Malchman, and Eliezer Sobel, as well as by MRT’s own Cantor Clissold.
