SUMMARY:Kristallnacht Commemoration
DESCRIPTION:Join us while we commemorate Kristallnacht at Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael on Friday\, November 9th at 8pm. We are very honored to have a survivor of Kristallnacht\, Peter Engler\, who will tell us of his own experience. We are also very excited that our members Leslie Glass and her daughter Abby Glass will be singing with their beautiful voices during this special event. Oneg to follow! \nPeter Engler was born in Berlin. The family fled Nazi Germany and found sanctuary in Shanghai. As he was very young\, he didn’t realize how primitive life was for refugees in Shanghai. His parents worked and lived relatively well\, under the terrible circumstances. Peter went to school there and endured the Allied bombings. When the war ended and the family left for Palestine and then eventually made their way to Canada and eventually the USA\, where Peter continued his education\, earning advanced degrees. A medical researcher\, he is a professor emeritus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is married and the father of two sons and is active in Holocaust education. \nLooking forward to this memorable evening \n
