Jewish ‘Wizard’

Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County, Freehold, will present E.Y. “Yip” Harburg: The Real Wizard of Oz, a talk by Dr. Joseph Cohn of the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, at 7 p.m.

Harburg, the son of Yiddish-speaking Russian-Jewish Orthodox immigrants, wrote the lyrics to “Over the Rainbow” and all the other songs in “The Wizard of Oz” (in collaboration with the composer Harold Arlen).

The museum will expand its hours and remain open to the public on six Wednesday evenings during July and August, 6-9 p.m.

This program is made possible in part by the Monmouth County Historical Commission through funding from the New Jersey Historical Commission of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
