Jewish Pulitzer novelists

Congregation B’nai Israel, Rumson, is celebrating Jewish Pulitzer Prize novelists — Philip Roth, Norman Mailer, Bernard Malamud, and Saul Bellow — in a series of free Sunday seminars.

Kicking off the series on Oct. 21 will be Prof. Andrew Meyer on Malamud at 11:15 a.m.

On Nov. 11, Jack Needle, a retired Brookdale Community College history professor, will discuss the life and works of Roth. Rabbi Dov Goldberg will give a Friday night Nov. 30 sermon on Roth’s short novel “Nemesis,” chosen as a Congregation Read.

Needle will discuss the life and works of Bellow on Jan. 27; the series will conclude when Gail Becker presents “Personal Reflections on Norman Mailer” on Feb. 3. Coffee and bagels will be available.

Call 732-842-1800.
