Announcing a Special 2-Part Meeting
February 24, 2019 , 1:00 pm
FreeIf you ever wanted to start your family history research, this is for you.
Part I: Jews Clues: How One Book, Two Authors, and a Few Good Clues Can Jumpstart Your Jewish Genealogy Quest
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Part II: Q & A: Your chance to “ask the experts”.
2:15 pm – 3:00 pm
Caryn Alter and Steve Cohen will explore some genealogical clues that might be “right under your nose”. Whether you’re a beginning researcher or a seasoned sleuth, discover how a little digging may help you unearth potentially valuable hints about your heritage. Learn how overlooked items in your house, the Jewish holiday traditions of your family, and even food customs can provide a glimpse into your family history.
Caryn and Steve will also discuss their recently published book, What’s in a Name? A Young Person’s Jewish Genealogy Workbook. The book is an excellent resource for young people, as well as for adults seeking a basic understanding of Jewish genealogy. The book will be available for purchase and signing. The authors are founding members of Beth El Synagogue’s genealogy club, now called the Mercer County Jewish Genealogy Society at Beth El Synagogue. Both Caryn and Steve have been researching their families for many decades.
Current and prospective members are welcome at meetings. There is no charge.
