Evelyn (Weinstein) Stier, 94, of Verona died Oct. 12, 2014. Born and raised in Newark, she formerly lived in Bloomfield and Lauderhill, Fla.
Mrs. Stier attended Weequahic High School in Newark.
She was involved in many groups, serving as president and publicity chair of both the sisterhood and Hadassah at Temple B’nai Zion in Bloomfield. She wrote a social column for the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity newsletter for many years. She was a longstanding member of Temple Ner Tamid in Bloomfield and the Druian Senior Circle.
She was a board member of the JCC MetroWest Margulies Senior Center in West Orange, where she attended programs for six years.
Predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Manuel M., she is survived by her son, Steven (Francine) of West Hartford, Conn.; her daughter, Lynn (Robert) Borteck of Pine Brook; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 14 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
