Evelyn Gold
Evelyn Gold, 98, of Whippany died June 7, 2014. She was born in Newark.
Mrs. Gold began her career as an educator in the Newark public schools, serving at Dayton Street and Hawthorne Avenue schools, where she was the special reading teacher.
She graduated from Newark State Teachers College.
After her retirement she and her husband, Philip, received a Volunteer Service Award from the Workmen’s Circle home in Elizabeth in recognition of their efforts on behalf of the home and its residents.
Predeceased by her husband and a son, Nathan, she is survived by her son Robert (Barbara); two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 8 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover.
