Evelyn Gerofsky

Evelyn Goldmann Gerofsky, 92, of Pennington died April 18, 2013. She was born and raised in Trenton.

Mrs. Gerofsky was a secondary school teacher for over 43 years in public, religious, and private schools.

She was a graduate of Trenton Central High School’s class of 1938 and Trenton State Teachers College’s class of 1942.

She was a member of Har Sinai Temple, Pennington, for over 61 years and a dedicated worker for their rummage sales and charity events. She was a volunteer and member of the Greenwood House, giving her time to their gift shop and as a life board member of Women for Greenwood House. She was a member of the planning committees for her high school class reunions in 1988, 1993, and 2003.

She was honored by Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County with the TZEDAKAH Award and Greenwood House with Woman of the Year 2003. She received a Har Sinai Religious School Award, Certificate of Recognition from the Mercer County Surrogate’s Office, and the TCSH Award for her years as a beginning teacher.

Predeceased by her husband, Alfred, in 1968, she is survived by three daughters, Diane Gerofsky, Lauren (Charles) Marciante, and Gailann (Thomas) Gerofsky Conlan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 21 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
