Eva Kempinski, 86, of Encinitas, Calif., died Feb. 10, 2012. A Holocaust survivor born in Wielun, Poland, she lived in Elizabeth and Union after immigrating to the United States before moving to California five years ago.
Mrs. Kempinski was 14 years old when World War II broke out. She was the sole survivor of her family, losing seven siblings and her parents.
She was an active member of Congregation B’nai Ahavath Shalom in Union and a lifetime member of Hadassah.
Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, David, she is survived by her daughter, Gilda; two sons, Avi and Sol; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 12 with arrangements by AM Israel Mortuary, San Diego, Calif.
