Eugene Cantor
Eugene L. Cantor, 83, of Fair Haven died Aug. 31, 2013. He was born and raised in Brooklyn.
Dr. Cantor practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Red Bank for 37 years.
He graduated from Syracuse University and earned his medical degree in 1955 from New York Medical College. He completed an internship at the University of Chicago in 1956.
He served as a lieutenant in the Medical Corps as the ship’s doctor for the flagship of the U.S. Navy’s Sixth Fleet. After retiring in 1997, he continued to volunteer at Our Lady of Providence Clinic in Neptune and at Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank.
He was a longtime member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Rumson and its choir and enjoyed many years of membership at Monmouth Beach Club.
Predeceased by a son, Stephen, he is survived by his wife, Maria; four daughters, Claudia Francello, Pam Cantor, Karen Arnold, and Rebecca Cantor-Chaplin (Dan); three sons, Jeff (Sharon), Adam, and Michael (Sarah); a sister, Suzanne Adams; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 3 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to Parker Family Health Center.
