Esther Anne Sourifman, 97, of Cranford died Sept. 29, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, she lived for much of her life in Jersey City before retiring 27 years ago to Raleigh, NC, where she lived until last year.
Mrs. Sourifman had worked as a bookkeeper for various companies for over 50 years, including Polly Bergen Company’s cosmetics line in New York City. She also held a realtor’s license and sold real estate in the Jersey City area.
She was a member of Hadassah and was a life member and past president of Mt. Sinai Congregation of Jersey City.
Predeceased by a daughter, Rhea (Joel) Caplin, she is survived by two daughters, Ilene Freedman (companion Jeffrey Horowitz) of Raleigh and Janice (Dirk) Rosenkrans of Cranford; a brother, Martin Rosenthal of Toms River; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 2 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
