Ervin Moss

Ervin Moss, M.D., 92, of Lone Tree, Colo., died March 15, 2019. Born in Trenton to Jacob and Lillian Mosovich, he was a resident of Verona and Montclair for 57 years.

Dr. Moss practiced anesthesia for 55 years. He served as the executive medical director for the NJ State Society of Anesthesiologists, on the board of directors of the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, and held several positions at Alexian Brothers hospital in Elizabeth, including president of the medical staff and chief of anesthesia. He was known for his work in patient safety, which resulted in the passing of regulations that addressed anesthesia practices in hospitals, surgery centers, and offices in the state.

He attended New York University, Harvard University, and Chicago Medical School.

He served in World War II as a signalman, where he received a number of medals in the Navy’s Armed Guard unit, which provided Navy gunners and signalmen to merchant ships traveling in convoys.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naomi; his son, Lloyd; two daughters, Joan and Linda; and five grandchildren.
