Eric Snyder

Eric Snyder, 66, of West Orange died Sept. 8, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Plainview, NY, before moving to West Orange 35 years ago.

Mr. Snyder was a chemical engineer who worked for Dock Resins Corp., Schering Plough, and Rutgers University.

A graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, he earned an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

He was active with Essex Council Boy Scouts of America and the Jewish Committee on Scouting, earning the Shofar Award, Silver Beaver Award, and Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow. He was also a founder of the Yogi Berra Celebrity Golf Tournament to aid disabled youth in Essex County.

He was a member of the American Chemical Society; a Fellow member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, where he served as New Jersey Section Chair; and a member of the men’s club of B’nai Shalom, West Orange.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his son, Ethan; and two sisters, Barbara Brucker and Robin Malki.

Services were held Sept. 12 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adler Aphasia Center in Maywood, the Boy Scouts of America’s Northern New Jersey Council, or the American Heart Association.
