Emanuel Kaplan
Emanuel Kaplan, 89, of West Palm Beach died Sept. 20, 2013. Born in Newark, he had lived in West Orange and Little Falls before moving to West Palm Beach after his retirement 25 years ago.
Mr. Kaplan was a partner and salesman for Executive Business Machines, formerly in Fair Lawn.
An Army veteran from 1942 to 1946, he was in the 2nd Army HQ in Memphis, Tenn., where he played trombone in the 2nd Army Marching Band.
An accomplished musician, he played trombone for the NJ Symphony and played at Carnegie Hall, while he was a student at Weequahic High School in Newark. He was a former choir member of B’nai Shalom in West Orange and Beth Shalom in Palm Beach, Fla.
He was a past chancellor of the Rainbow Lodge of Knights of Pythias and past member of the Dan Michelson Lodge of the Jewish War Veterans.
Predeceased by his son Paul and his grandson Scott, he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred; his son Marc (Ellen) of Verona; his daughter, Carole (Howard) Nemiroff of Basking Ridge; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 24 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Cedar Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomfield College (NJ) “Scott H. Kaplan ‘02 Art Gallery” or the American Parkinson Disease Association.
