Emanuel Feldman
Dr. Emanuel Feldman, 99, died May 10, 2013.He was born in Bayonne.
Dr. Feldman was the Assistant Chief of Anesthesiology at Long Island Jewish Hospital.
He was the recipient of a Silver Star for bravery under enemy fire in the European Theater during World War II, where he served for five years as Battalion Medical Officer of the 11th Infantry. For 60 hours while under artillery and mortar fire, Capt. Feldman attended the wounded of his unit while refusing to join the retreat of his regiment.
Predeceased by his wife, Florence (Neuchatz), and his son, Robert (married to Nobuko), he is survived by his daughter, Amy (Mark) Juhas; two brothers, Myron of Short Hills and Edward; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 12 with arrangements by Sinai Chapels, Queens.
