Else Roth, 93, of Maplewood died April 4, 2014. She was a Holocaust survivor born in Germany. After arriving in the United States, she lived in New York City briefly and raised her family in Newark before moving to Maplewood 46 years ago.
Mrs. Roth was a homemaker.
She was an active life member of Maplewood Hadassah, where she was known as the “Tree Lady.” She continued to swim and bicycle through town until the age of 91.
She was a member of Congregation Beth Ephraim/Maplewood Jewish Center and an active member of the Jewish Family Service of MetroWest’s Lore Ross Cafe Europa social group.
Predeceased by her husband, Kuno, she is survived by her daughter, Pearl (Ami) Zarsky of Caesarea, Israel; her son, Joseph (Cindy) of Fairfield; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 6 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
