Elsa Worthman Lentz
Elsa Worthman Lentz, 82, of Sarasota, Fla., died Nov. 28, 2010. She was born in Jersey City and also had lived in Verona and the Washington, DC, area.
Mrs. Lentz was actively involved in local Democratic politics. She was a state Democratic committeewoman representing Manatee County, a cofounder and former president of the Southeast Manatee County Democratic Club, and was active with the Manatee Democratic Executive Committee.
A graduate of New York University, she was a buyer for Orbach’s Department Store in New York City and for Lane Bryant Stores. She later founded Billing Services for Doctors, which she ran for eight years before selling the company and retiring in 1994.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; a son, John Worthman; a daughter, Ann Deena Worthman; two sisters, Beverly Spiegel and Marion Panzer; a brother, Howard Philwin; three stepchildren, Philip, David, and Carol Lentz; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 30 with arrangements by Toale Brothers Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, Sarasota. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota 34238; or the ALS Association, Florida chapter, 3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa, FL 33619-0907.
