Ellen Jacobson
Ellen Jacobson (Farber), 81, of Margate died Jan. 5, 2019. She grew up in South Orange and resided in Boca Raton, Fla., before moving to Margate two years ago.
Mrs. Jacobson was a buyer in Bamberger’s department store in Newark. She later opened her own handbag business, The Brag Bag, in Livingston.
She attended Columbia High School and graduated from West Orange High School in 1955. She graduated from Vermont College for Women and continued her education at Toby Coburn School for Fashion Careers in New York City.
She was a member of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills, for many years. She was also a life member of National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section and served as chairwoman of Focus on Art, Exhibition and Sale of Fine Art, as well as many of their committees throughout the years.
She was married to Arthur Jacobson of South Orange for 25 years. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Heft of Boca Raton; her son, Michael of Key Largo, Fla.; a sister, Peggy Spergel of Anthem, Ariz.; and two granddaughters.
