Elinor Goldman
Elinor K. Goldman, 89, of New Providence died Nov. 19, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, she was raised there and Fall River, Mass., and lived in Woodbridge, Scotch Plains, and Edison before moving to New Providence in 2016.
Mrs. Goldman was a field director for Girl Scouts of America in Brooklyn and Linden as well as the adult education director at the former YM-YWHA in Plainfield.
She was a 1950 graduate of New York University with a degree in psychology and sociology.
She was a member of the board of directors at Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey for over 30 years, serving on the nominating, personnel, long-term planning, and homecare services committees. She also served on the board of directors at Congregation Beth Israel as chair of the youth commission and as a member of the education committee.
She and her husband, Leonard, were members of the Raritan Yacht Club for over 50 years.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by two sons, Eric (Susan) of Metuchen and Kenneth of Hoboken; her daughter, Linda of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 23 with arrangements by Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison.
