Eleanor Kostant
Eleanor Kostant (Pearlman), 94, of South Orange died Nov. 20, 2017.
A graduate of Barnard College, Mrs. Kostant went on to earn master’s degrees from Yale School of Public Health and Columbia University School of Public Health. At the age of 55 she began a new career as a psychotherapist, which she enjoyed for 30 years, practicing at Washington Square Institute. She also edited mental health newsletters and was the assistant editor of the Washington Square Institute Journal of Psychoanalytic Psychology.
She was president of the Metropolitan Orchestra for 12 years and played viola, also in the South Orange Symphony Orchestra and in chamber music groups.
Predeceased by her husband, George, and a daughter, Rochelle (Steven Russman), she is survived by a daughter, Amy (Bob) Taliaferro; her son, Jeffrey; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 10, at noon at Village Apartments, South Orange.
