Elaine Watnick Weil
Elaine Watnick Weil, 86, of Rochester, NY, died Jan. 20, 2011. Born in Newark, she raised her family in Union Township and Cranford before moving to Wayland and then Rochester.
Mrs. Weil worked for the U.S. government during World War II in the Office of Dependency Benefits in Newark; in the Area Rent Control Office in Wilmington, NC; and as secretary to the Commanding Officer at Fort Bliss, Texas. She later worked for Graviner, Inc. (a subsidiary of Wilkinson Sword)/FPS International of NJ and California for 20 years and retired as office manager/comptroller.
She had been a member of Temple Beth El of Cranford and Deborah Hospital.
Predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Shelton J., and a daughter, Anita, she is survived by three daughters, Ellen Bowers of Victor, NY, Carol Weil of Quincy, Mass., and Sharon Weil-Chalker of Wallingford, Pa.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 23 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST).
