Edwin Gutman

Edwin Gutman, 91, of Monroe Townhip died March 8, 2011. Born in New York, he lived in Union for over 40 years before moving to Monroe 20 years ago.

Mr. Gutman was an employee and eventually owner of Price Cravat of Newark for over 40 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Irvington.

He played semi-pro baseball in New Jersey and played tennis until the age of 89. He was a Little League coach in Union for 20 years and a former state table tennis champion. He was also a life master bridge player.

Predeceased by his wife, Edith, in 2001, he is survived by his son, Harvey of Marlboro; his daughter, Bonnie Gutman of Washington, DC; his brother, Morton of Chatham; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 9 with arrangements by Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan.
